Please read if you use IE

Tue Dec 16, 2008, 6:53 PM
One of the websites I visited this morning had a warning out about a major security flaw in all supported versions of Internet Explorer. The next site repeated the warning, and recommended switching to another browser. I still wasn't sure how reliable it was, so I went digging for more information. Here's what I found:

So I've got to agree with them - switch to another browser, even if it's only temporary, and please pass this on. I personally recommend Firefox, but some of the articles also link to others.

Thanks for reading,
Sarah

Update

Tue Dec 9, 2008, 8:46 PM
I've got a lot to say, so I'll stick with the bare bones for now and add more detail later.

Tonight, I get to try for second blue belt at Tae Kwon Do. There was a competition not long ago; I won a prize for form but got beaten badly at sparring. ~AkumaSenshi gave me some tips though, so I hope to do better this time.

I turned 19 early last month. My payslip does not yet reflect that.

My keyboard has been switched to a left-handed Dvorak layout, and I'm getting better at using it, but no-one I've told knows what that means. Hee hee.

And finally:
On Christmas Day, my family and I are going to Japan for three weeks. I've never been there before, and my parents haven't since Mum followed Dad there twenty-odd years ago. So we're looking forward to it. Eventually we need to decide what we plan to do when we get there.

I have a new cousin!

Sun Aug 17, 2008, 1:24 AM
No, it's not a new baby or anything like that... my 30-year-old cousin Emma got married last Wednesday. It must've been the most informal non-Vegas wedding in the history of the universe. Most traditions were upheld, but in a half-joking kind of way (e.g.: the bouquet was just handed to the nearest single friend); the groom was repeatedly called Yocchan in the ceremony itself (his name is Yoshitaka) and the dance music was just that, actual dance music, not a single waltz in sight - things like Abba songs, Love Shack, Uptown Girl... the list goes on and includes several songs that I should not have known as well as I did, seeing as how they were before my time... in short, the Nutbush was as formal as it got. I am borderline antisocial. I danced anyway. It was fun.

Oh! We had a sushi stall in the Ekka. I skipped a prac my parents didn't know about to help when they were short of staff. It did well. :)

Last night, for the first time, I think I died in a dream. Falling down the stairs. Now that's pathetic.

Am I the only one who can't get the mood thing in the little box underneath this to change?

Well... it's been a while.

So, this is my first journal update since January. So much has happened that I've forgotten most of it, which is good because most of it's pretty mediocre.

I went on a trip to Caloundra with a couple of friends, and ended up fighting with them; got a few good photos though, so now's as good a time as any for an art dump.

Since said holiday proved to me that the family camera absolutely sucks for more-than-basic shots, I went out and bought a new one with half my savings. It's amazing, but I'd be considerably happier with it if it acknowledged my computer. Ditto for the scanner.

~Sailor-Destiny turned 19 this time last month. Probably should've mentioned that earlier.

At the last AYC concert, I gave my old conductor some storybook illustrations she commissioned me for. I wasn't expecting her to be so thrilled! She hasn't paid me yet, but I'm not sure I want her to, since I left it so disgustingly late. I'm thinking about posting the pictures here, if I can figure out how without splitting the pages or making the file too big.

A Link, Updates, And Experiments With The Headers

Take a look at this website I found: [link]
I think it's funny. It might not seem so at first, but just spend three minutes there... and then ask yourself what the heck you've been doing for the last three minutes... and I think you'll understand.

Now that you're trying not to giggle, or more likely wondering just who is this girl who finds things like this funny, I'd like to tell you that I now have a piece of very official-looking laminated paper that says I'm legally allowed to crash a car. Yes that's right! I got my learner's license. You should probably think about getting off the road now. :evillaugh:

Also, it turns out I have a slight vision problem and glasses won't help. My eyes don't converge properly, meaning that whatever I think I'm looking at, I'm actually focusing on a point quite some way behind it. So now I have this weird glass prism thing that I have to read with for ten minutes a day, probably for the rest of my life (provided, of course, that I don't lose it tomorrow) that forces me to focus by making it hurt if I don't. Supposedly, after a few months I'll be seeing better, though personally I never noticed the problem.

And I joined a tae kwon do class. It hurts. A lot. But it was also a lot of fun, and Rachel's joining with me, so I'll have someone to fight with once we get to that level. Who I wouldn't mind kicking sometimes, and who will probably enjoy beating the stuffing out of me, so it's kind of win-win.
